More than 100 players attended the Sunshine Coast Dart League’s 10th anniversary tournament at the Gibsons Legion Aug. 23 to 25.

The Sunshine Coast Dart League recently celebrated a milestone by hosting its 10th anniversary tournament, which saw a record turnout with more than 100 players and incredible performances across all events. This year’s tournament, held Aug. 23 to 25, marked a significant achievement for the league and its participants.

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with the Blind Draw Doubles, setting the tone for the competitive yet friendly atmosphere that would define the event. Saturday saw intense matchups in the Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles and Mixed Doubles, where the top players in B.C. and local talent shone brightly. The excitement continued into Sunday with the Men’s Singles and Women’s Doubles events, where players battled it out for top honors.

As a Darts BC ranked tournament, the event holds special significance for participants, particularly those competing in the Singles categories. All the players have the opportunity to tryout for the provincial playoffs, with the ultimate goal of representing B.C. at the Canadian Nationals.

“We are thrilled with the turnout and the level of competition this year,” said James Rhodes, president of the Sunshine Coast Dart League. “This tournament not only showcases the talent in our dart community but also brings people together to celebrate the sport we all love.”

The success of the tournament was made possible with the generous support of local businesses. The league extends its heartfelt thanks to Kenmac, Dawesome Contracting LTD, SC Welding Ltd, Blackfish Pub, IGA Gibsons, Kenan MacKenzie - Remax, and Creekers Containers for their contributions. A special thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109 – Gibsons for being the host venue with the donation of the hall and other contributions.

The Sunshine Coast Dart League is inviting more teams and venues to host dart teams as we are hoping to grow the league over the next decade, and this anniversary tournament is a testament to the dedication of its players, organizers, and community supporters. As the league looks forward to future tournaments, the community’s passion for darts remains as strong as ever.
