Special Places: The hidden groves of Sechelt Inlet Road

The hidden groves along Sechelt Inlet Road are green and lush year-round. But in the spring, when the sunlight burns through the mist, this magical stretch of forest is at its best.

The hidden groves along Sechelt Inlet Road are green and lush year-round. But in the spring, when the sunlight burns through the mist, this magical stretch of forest is at its best. When I step into the woods on the Take-it-Easy (accessible) Trail and walk to the bench placed opposite magnificent old growth trees, I am awed and thankful that the neighbouring community saved this park for us to enjoy. Volunteers from the Sechelt Groves Society continue to work on trail clearing and have built their latest endeavour, a new trail to Gray Creek.

Because I walk alone at Hidden Groves, I’m also thankful that clear signs mark the way—it’s impossible to get lost. Whether I’m on my favourite green trail or puffing my way up the yellow trail to the cliff lookout, Hidden Groves makes me happy.

In this photo, I’m looking at a magnificent tree called the Lonely Giant at 180 metres elevation. No professional camera was used, just my iPhone 12. See hiddengroves.ca for information and a trail map.
