The Sechelt Public Library will reopen Thursday, July 11

As most Sunshine Coast residents know, there was a serious flood on the roof of our building on January 17.  It not only affected the District of Sechelt on the second floor but the Sechelt Library, lobby and public washrooms on the main floor. Half of the library was under water and much was damaged. Public access was not possible. We have been operating from our staff entrance door as best as possible and we also operated our "Sechelt Library Pop-Up Edition" in the Trail Bay Mall from March 6 to June 19 to better serve the public.

It has been a tremendous amount of work dealing with insurance, flood remediation, project management and setting up our library for re-opening.  We just received power and lighting back at the end of June!

After five long months, we are excited to finally announce we will re-open for public access on Thursday July 11 at 10 a.m. On behalf of myself and all our staff, we know that libraries hold such an important place in any community and we are very excited to welcome everyone back!
