The 6th Roberts Creek Scout Group held a food drive in support of the St. Bartholomew’s Church Food Bank on Feb. 19 at the IGA in Gibsons.
Members of the Scout Group were out in force, collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations. The Scout Group collected 16 large boxes of food, plus cash donations and gift cards totaling $2,095. Both the Scout group and the food bank are very appreciative of the generosity of the community in their support of the food drive. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This community service project by members of the Scout group was to help those in our community who are less fortunate.
Anyone who would like to donate to the St. Bartholomew’s Church Food Bank can do so by sending an E-transfer to stbarts@telus.net (note “For St. Bart’s Food Bank” in the comments please), or by mailing a cheque payable to St. Bart’s Food Bank to 659 North Road, Gibsons, B.C., V0N 1V9.
Keep an eye out for the Scouts in Sechelt this weekend. You may spot careening Kub Kars and blasting Beaver Buggies along the Trail Bay Centre Mall March 6. The 6th Roberts Creek Scout Group youth will be racing the small-wheeled vehicles they have designed and decorated as part of their annual Krispy Kreme Fundraiser. Shoppers, supporters, passersby with a sweet tooth, can buy Krispy Kreme Doughnuts between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the rally will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The funds from this tasty tradition will help send two Sea Venturers Scouts to the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea in 2023.
Scouting is the largest youth organization, and the largest youth educational organization, in the world, with over 57 million active members worldwide, in almost every country in the world.
