Egmont Heritage Centre will have live music this Saturday April 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. Their annual general meeting is set for Sunday April 27 at 1 p.m. at the Egmont Heritage Centre.
The Women’s Connection welcomes our harbour’s own young entrepreneur, Angela Stearns, April 22. She has become well known as the “Photo with Santa Clause” photographer at the Pender Harbour Winter Festivals. Her warm personality results in charming individual and family photos that are treasured. Angela is also gaining a reputation for her amazing wildlife shots and breathtaking scenic photographs of the Sunshine Coast. She will speak about how her interest in photography developed, bring examples of her work, and give hints on how you can take the perfect photo of your favourite scene, darling grandchild or adorable pet. This spring, Angela is also opening a craft shop here in Madeira Park which should add an interesting dimension to our village. Come meet this dynamic young lady, Tuesday, April 22 at the School of Music. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. $4 drop-in fee with refreshments included.
Tuesday, April 22, 2 p.m. you are invited to the Bargain Barn Volunteer Team Meeting at the Hall. Current and interested future volunteers are encouraged to come along and find out what goes on at the Bargain Barn. To continue supporting our health centre, BB are always looking for more volunteers in a large variety of roles. Join them for an open discussion about what they do and how you might be able to get involved and help.
Harbourside Friendships, Thursday, April 24, will celebrate the second anniversary of the Pender Harbour Better @ Home Program. This program is championed by volunteers who visit seniors, aiding in basic household functions and friendly visits enabling them to live comfortably in their own home. Free lunch for those attending 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hall.
April Tools is next Saturday, April 26. This exciting day packs in non-stop activities, fun, food, museum displays and fierce competition! It starts at 10 a.m.: The twist and building materials are revealed. The teams have one hour to plan out their boat. Hand tools only! Then, 11 a.m. boatbuilding action until 2 pm. At 2 p.m.: Youth races start. The high school teams run two races: the trophy race and the free-for-all. At 2:30 p.m. (approx.): Adult races start. It is float or sink, paddle, or swim. Will they even get all the way around the course? Upsets of all kinds can happen and usually do!
Saturday, just steps away, and not to be missed 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hall, the Annual Pender Harbour Community Plant and Garden Sale & Vintage Market. Donations are still being accepted; garden furniture and decor, bird feeders/houses, vintage items, gardening/cookbooks and plants! Baking needed for the kitchen and the bake sale. Kitchen will be open all day for food and drinks including the now famous $5 lunch! Sunshine Coast Honey will be there along with other exciting craft and food vendors. Saturday, April 26, an Art Show too! Once again, the Harbour Gallery is proud to host a showing of art created by the students at Pender Harbour Secondary School. Always an interesting showing to see the diverse art created by the next generation of Pender Harbour Artists! Find the gallery just up the stairs from all the April Tools boatbuilding fun!
Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m., Pender Harbour Music Society presents Duo Beija-Flor. The unique duo of guitarist Charles Hobson and flautist Marie-Noelle Choquette hail from Montreal and have a stellar international reputation. They bring us an original repertoire that features music by composers who have used traditional dances, stories, or songs to inspire their works, pushing the boundary of classical music. Tickets $30 available on the PHMS website.
