Teddy bears on the Coast are feeling much better after their visit to the Teddy Bear Hospital at the Botanical Garden on March 30. Hosted by Dr. Paul and Sarah Dhillon, the event was a fundraiser for Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue (SCSAR) and designed to help children feel more comfortable with medical procedures. Stuffies were vaccinated, weighed and measured, given an X-ray, and presented with a “prescription” of candy. The volunteers (real doctors, nurses, and technicians) were friendly and reassuring to the furry patients and their little people. Outside, members of the Search and Rescue crew offered educational games and information, and Zulu the search dog helped find two lost teddies.
