Christmas comes to the Harbour this weekend, with a wonderland of festivities!
The Christmas Market tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 14, 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the Pender Harbour Community Hall will be a shopper’s dream come true. The Bargain Barn tables will be loaded with unique Christmas gifts, the curated artisan vendors have come with their amazing, desirable creations, White Elephant overflowing with treasures and jewellery, (half price for the last hour - 2 till 3 p.m.!), Silent Auction and Book Sale and always the favourite bake tables, the Pender Harbour Baking Ladies have all the Christmas goodies you need for yourself and gifts. Enjoy the famous $5 lunch and $1 coffee. 2025 Hall memberships available. All proceeds towards the new roof for the Hall.
The Harbour Gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 during the Christmas Market and Winterfest. It will also be open Sunday the 15th for the choir concert at the School of Music, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The gallery has an excellent selection of original and printed Christmas cards, which are lovely to give, a gift themselves as the mail strike carries on.
The 3rd Annual Winterfest is on Dec. 14, 3 to 9 p.m. Live music: Joe and the Interstellar Riders, Net Shed Bar, local artisan vendors selling their crafted creations and Santa’s Workshop for the children. The bonfire will be lit at 4 p.m. Santa will arrive. The Carol Ships set sail at dark. The food vendor offerings are out of this world: Salty’s Lobster Shack, Salt & Swine, Sushma Samosas, Jinder’s Indian Food, Bite Me donuts, Basic Batches Cookie Creators. Suggested donation for entry $10 for individuals, $20 for families.
The Pender Harbour Choir presents “Merry Little Christmas” Dec. 15, 2 p.m. at the School of Music and Dec. 17, 7 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens. Tickets $25 at door, through a member of the choir or at EarthFair Store.
The Annual Polar Express Christmas Light Tour is Dec. 17. The bus departs Madeira Park at 7 p.m. touring the fabulous Christmas light displays on Francis Peninsula returning 8-8:30 p.m. Purchase your $5 “Golden Ticket” at Earth Fair Store.
“Spreading Kindness Fundraiser” assists local youth and families in need throughout the year by supporting the “Pender Harbour Community School Youth and Families Support Program.” Funds are used to purchase essential supplies, food security support and to address the specific needs of youth and families locally in need all year long. Additionally, funds are used to help youth and families locally in need at Christmas, providing food security support, gifts and clothing. The need continues to be great. Christmas Toy and Gift Giving Boxes at our local IGA, Legion, Pharmacy, John Henrys and Rona if you wish to donate unwrapped or wrapped labelled toys or gifts for local children in need ages three to 12. The Pender Harbour Community School Youth Night Program is for grades six to 12 students on the last Friday of each month, October to May, in the PH Community Hall providing a fun, safe environment for youth to participate in games, music, movies and share food in an inclusive environment with their peers.
