Pender Harbour-Egmont Highlights: It’s coming on market season

The Pender Harbour Food Bank is in need of help. Our Rotary is stepping up, as they always do. The proceeds from their 50/50 draw for November and December will go to benefit the food bank. Buy your tickets now, just Google Pender Harbour Rotary and we all will win! Congratulations to Diane Hopkinson, October’s winner. The proceeds for that draw will be donated to the school’s Hot Lunch Program. 

Women’s Connection gathering Tuesday, Nov. 22 welcomes the Harbour’s favourite Yoga instructor, Carole Logtenberg. Carole will provide insight into this very beneficial, popular and enjoyable form of exercise. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. at the School of Music. Presentation begins at 10 a.m. The drop-in fee $4. Yearly membership $15. 

At the Harbourside Friendships social, Thursday, Nov. 24, you will be treated to a special performance of unforgettable music from the fantastic harpist, Margaret Skelley. Social begins at 10:30 a.m. at the PH Hall. Lunch served at noon for $10. 

The Pender Harbour Garden Club presents Richard Beard of Keats Island, on Monday, Nov. 28 at the School of Music 1 to 3 p.m. He will discuss invasive plants on the Sunshine Coast, probable future consequences and what action can be taken in our own gardens and communities. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. Drop in $5 or $15 for an annual membership. 

The most wonderful time of the year has arrived with Christmas Markets happening on the Coast. Here in the harbour, we will have two of these joyous events, Dec. 3, hosted by the Pender Harbour Community School, and just announced is the Pender Harbour Community Club’s market on Dec. 10. At the PHCC event there will be a White Elephant Table, a Silent Auction and a Bake Table. The call is out for donations. Light Up the Town, the annual tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 17 at Millennium Park, will be a spectacular event! The tree lighting will be at 5 p.m. with Santa’s Workshop, food trucks, vendors, photos with Santa, music, and a licenced area for Holiday Spirits from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is not too late to sponsor a tree and vendors book your table now for free.
