Larry Empey, 74, of Gibsons, BC, passed away in his home early on December 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elenore and Bob Empey, and good friend Stan Thomas, and is survived by his brother Bob (Lynda), nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends. Larry was born in Victoria and often spoke about his childhood on Salt Spring Island, traveling to Europe, moose hunting with Bob and Lynda in Fort McMurray, and visiting them in Newfoundland in 2013. In Gibsons, Larry worked as a butcher at SuperValu. He then worked at Howe Sound Pulp and Paper and retired as a TMP operator. Larry was an avid woodworker and loved his precious dogs. His Yorkie pups, Sophie and Chewy, have been placed together in a home in Sechelt. Thank you, ElderDog Sunshine Coast, for facilitating this. No funeral or memorial service will be held.
