June 16, 1943 – March 14, 2023
Gord used to say, “In the game of life, even the 50-yard line seats don’t interest me. I came to play.” And play he did! Gord’s life was full of family, friends, travels, and endless projects. He was a loving husband, devoted dad, and faithful friend.
Many will remember him as “Mr. Stevens”, a caring, creative and charismatic school teacher. Artist, athlete, builder, beachcomber, teacher, traveller, tinkerer and trickster, Gord’s engine was always revving! Unfortunately, Parkinson’s Disease cut his career short, however, it never stopped him from living life to the max. From restoring cars to crafting toys for his grandkids, Gord always had a project on the go. And, even when his condition threw him new challenges, he continued to inspire those around him.
Gord passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. He will be forever loved, missed and remembered by his wife Fran, daughters, Michy and Regan, their families, and countless friends and relatives. Bax, Boom and Mat will always remember Grampa for his knowledge, wisdom, positive spirit, and silly expressions.
Much gratitude for a year of care by the lovely staff at Christenson Village.
May we all take a piece from Gord’s lifelong motto: DO, DISCOVER, AND ENJOY … but don’t forget to duck every once in awhile!
We’ll meet you on the road less travelled by.
