Obituary: Dorothy (DB) Lillian Black Morse

On the late afternoon of May 11, 2024, Dorothy (DB) Lillian Black Morse passed away peacefully, Obituary with a friend beside her at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, B.C., Canada. Dorothy was 92 years old.

Dorothy was born in 1932 in North Vancouver, B.C., Canada, to Eleanor and Ivan Black. She spent her early life growing up in Northern B.C. before moving to Vancouver where she graduated from the Vancouver General Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She then moved to the United States, working professionally in California and Arizona until her return to Canada several decades later.

Dorothy retired from nursing in 1996, moved to her ancestral home in Davis Bay in 2004, and later to the Christensen Village in Gibsons, B.C., where she resided until her death. Apart from her dedication to nursing, nothing made DB happier than singing, listening to classical music, cooking wonderful food, and being a good friend to so many.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother Eleanor, her father Ivan, and her brother Earle. She is survived by her stepson Patrick Morse, her niece Barbara Burke, and her nephew Curtis Black.

A public Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Living Faith Lutheran Church, 4607 Whitaker Rd., Sechelt, B.C. A reception will follow.
