Equal parts soul, adrenaline and swagger, Mindil Beach are redefining the limits of rock and roll.
Sunshine Coast-bred, they’ve made the epic journey from coast to coast across Canada three times in the past year and half. On top of the bar and festival circuits, they have now played to more than 45,000 students with their environmental initiative, The Jellyfish Project.
Last month, the band participated in the Fox Seeds Competition, a battle of the bands hosted by Vancouver radio station, 99.3 The Fox. They wowed the judges in their initial showcase and earned themselves a spot in the top three. As finalists, they were given the opportunity to play at the legendary Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, opening for red-hot Canadian duo, USS.
So what’s next for the foursome? They are heading back to Victoria this month to play Rifflandia Festival (alongside the likes of Serena Ryder and Death Cab for Cutie) and will be hitting the road for a tour of B.C. and Alberta in October.
This tour will be in support of their new single, Love Like Mine, which is continuing to build momentum on the Canadian rock charts. Once home, they’ll be recording an EP at FaderMountain Studios in Vancouver, and will tour the EP back east in the spring. Stay tuned for a Sunshine Coast show announcement this fall.
