Recently, Sechelt Legion branch president and poppy chair Bill McLean, along with membership chair Suzanne McLean were honoured to visit Kinnikinnick Elementary School in Sechelt to present awards to the Grades 2 and 3 class winners in the annual Poster and Literary Awards contest.
Flanked by Bill and Suzanne in the photo is Ava Durrant, whose artwork won first place in Sechelt and the Sunshine Coast Zone, and second overall in her age category in all of BC and the Yukon: a tremendous accomplishment!
Ava's poster epitomizes peace, so central to the Legion’s message of remembrance, and a rare commodity in some parts of the world today.
