How events support the Gibsons Legion

And what’s on the go in the month ahead
Gibsons Legion
Legion Branch 109 in Gibsons.

In our vibrant community, the Gibsons Legion Branch 109 has long been a cornerstone of support and camaraderie. Our mission is clear: to provide essential support to veterans, promote remembrance and foster unity within our community. Yet, maintaining this mission requires more than just dedication; it necessitates sustainable funding.

Our Legion is more than just a place for veterans to gather; it is a hub of activity and enjoyment for the entire community. From live music and comedy nights to themed parties and trivia contests, our events draw people together in the spirit of fun and fellowship. These gatherings not only provide much-needed entertainment but also play a crucial role in generating the funds that allow us to continue our vital work.

Without the revenue from our entertainment offerings, we would face significant challenges in supporting our purpose. The funds raised through ticket sales, concessions, and donations at these events directly contribute to our programs for veterans and their families. They help us organize commemorative ceremonies, provide assistance to those in need, support local food banks, provide bursaries to deserving students, and offer a safe, welcoming space for all members of our community.

Moreover, our entertainment events are not just about raising money; they are about building a sense of belonging and togetherness. They bring people of all ages and backgrounds into our Legion, fostering a stronger, more connected community. Each event is an opportunity for people to share experiences, make new friends, and create lasting memories.

  • Saturday and Sunday:  Meat draws from 4 p.m., bringing friends and great fun together.
  • With the biggest dance floor in Gibsons, we also bring great bands in for those who love to dance.
  • On many Fridays, Coastal Hosts and Entertainment brings in a great crowd with many of their bands and shows.
  • Saturday, Aug. 17: We are excited to announce an award-winning duo, Minor Gold (Tracy McNeil and Dan Parsons from Brisbane, Australia), who will be sharing their songs and music with our Legion as part of their North American Tour.

Check out our website at gibsonslegion.ca for more events, including our Community Market on Aug. 3.

We invite everyone to join us at these events and experience the joy and unity they bring. By supporting our entertainment initiatives, you are directly contributing to the well-being of our veterans, the health of our community, and the provision of vital support to local food banks and educational bursaries. Together, we can ensure that our Legion remains a beacon of support, remembrance, and togetherness for years to come.
