The 17th Annual Pender Harbour Blues Festival was a fantastic success. Thanks to the madame of music, ace organizer Marilyn MacLeod and talent scout Chris “The Wrist” Nordquist and their big band of volunteers. The star power was blinding and the music so hot at the Saturday Jam I had to go home and take a cold shower. Standing ovation all round and encore for next year!
What a parade! Egmont Days was showered upon but that did not stop the fun and games! The community definitely put on a show enjoyed by all.
Not a chance of suffering live music withdrawal after last weekend. Here we go folks.
Tonight, Friday, June 10, at the Pender Harbour School of Music Coffee House, the outstanding performers taking to the stage will be Jim Foster, Katrina Bishop, and Matt Richards. Jim’s performance of his original song “Smuggler’s Cove” last Saturday gave many of us goosebumps. Swear I heard the Jolly Roger flapping in the wind. Katrina Bishop, singer songwriter missed by her many fans these past couple of years, returns. Her clear strong voice accompanied by piano, 12 string guitar, ukulele or strum stick are a musical treat. Matt, who resides in Earl’s Cove has great original songs and always a story to tell about the covers he plays. Doors open at 7p.m. Music at 7:30 p.m. $10 donation at the door.
Saturday, June 11 Joe Stanton is at The Backeddy Pub starting at 4 p.m. Get there early for the full experience of fine food, beverages, beautiful vistas, and the music of one of the finest singer songwriters acoustic finger style guitarists.
Later Saturday night, Western Dance Party rides into the Harbour starring Blue Western; Mike Evans, Archie MacLean, Warren Allan, and Garth Oliver Bowen. Come two step, line dance and enjoy a lot of fun at the Legion starting at 7 p.m. No cover charge. Vaccine passport required.
