Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Visit the Harbour’s 17 Art Crawl venues

The  Art Crawl 2022 is under way! The three-day extravaganza of creativity covers the Coast with 169 venues and 240 artists. There are 17 venues around the Harbour, including a new location at the Sarah Wray Hall in Garden Bay where you can enjoy the work of five local artists. The Harbour Gallery will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with its wealth of masterpieces of all sizes and mediums. The Fall Chamber Music Weekend is this weekend, with James Campbell and the Lafayette String Quartet performing at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the School of Music. It is presented by the Pender Harbour Music Society. Recently, after 40 years of teaching and working together, members of the Lafayette announced that they will bring their internationally respected collaboration to a close in 2023. “Interplay,” a mixed media exploration of line, light and shadow continues at Fibreworks at the Yurts open Thursday to Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  “Spin in” is Thursday Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. Visit www.fibreworks.com for more info on all their events and workshops.  

Tuesday, Oct. 25 Women’s Connection celebrates “Remembering Queen Elizabeth II and High Tea.” Come share your stories about Her Majesty in Britain and during her many trips to Canada. There will be a quiz followed by High Tea. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Gathering begins at 10 a.m. New drop-in fee $4. Yearly membership $15. Masks are optional. If you are unwell, please do not attend for the safety of everyone. 

The Pender Harbour Brownies are doing their part for our Food Bank, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 3 to 4 p.m. outside the IGA collecting donations. Add a few items to your shopping list, go through your cupboards and donate. 

The Pender Harbor Garden Club is thrilled to present local gardening guru Sandy Matches of Kleindale, on Monday, Oct. 31 at the School of Music 1 to 3 p.m. Doors open at 12:45 p.m.  His botanical experience is mostly self-taught and learned from his grandmother. Sandy worked for a landscape architect for three years, 1994 through 1997. He has gardened and collected specimen plants since childhood. Sandy will be answering your gardening-related questions as well as discussing seeds and soils if time permits. Membership fees are $15 for a calendar year or $5 drop in. 

Have you got your tickets? The 12th Annual Halloween Howl Dance and Costume Extravaganza happens Saturday, Oct. 29 with the Steve Hinton Band and special guest Peter Van Duersen at the Pender Harbour Community Hall. Prizes for the best costumes. The competition will be fierce!
