Women’s Connection is honoured to present distinguished artist, Hiroshi Shimazaki at their Oct. 22 meeting. Hiroshi studied political science and economics in Japan. He gained a PhD from SFU then went on to the University of Lethbridge where he taught cultural geography and international management and remains a Professor Emeritus. Shimazaki’s love of watercolour painting developed in tandem with his academic interests. “For me, landscape painting elicits appreciation of natural processes, reflection on the historical past, and awareness of the potentialities of human action embodied in each place.” Come meet this extraordinary man who now calls the Sunshine Coast his home. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. at the School of Music. Drop-in fee of $4, complimentary refreshments included.
