Gibsons United Church raised $800 through bake sales to support local food banks. Funds raised by Gibsons United were split evenly between The Salvation Army Food Bank and St. Bart’s Food Bank. The church thanks everyone who generously supported the bake sales for this cause and reminds everyone that even though the warm weather is returning, families still need to eat.
The Salvation Army in Gibsons provides bread and produce to about 30 people daily and they make this available, no questions asked, from 11 a.m. to noon. In addition, they provide food hampers for over 100 families a month as well as 125 meals a week through their lunch program. In 2018 St. Bart’s Anglican Church provided food for 1,499 people and they continue to do so every third Wednesday of the month.
The need continues to grow, so please remember the hungry among us even in the summer months. There are a variety of ways you can help but cash donations go the farthest as they can purchase food in bulk most cost effectively.
