The Rotary Clubs of the Sunshine Coast hosted the fourth annual Volunteer Fair on April 12 at Sechelt Activity Centre. There were 44 exhibitors offering information about a diverse range of volunteer opportunities on the Sunshine Coast, including SC Healthcare Auxiliary, Better at Home, SC Hospice Society, Citizens on Patrol (COPS), Bikers Against Child Abuse, Restorative Justice, SC Woodcrafters Guild, Royal Astronomical Society, SC Quilters Guild, SC Conservation Society, SC Arts Council, Gibsons Landing Jazz Fest, Coast Cultural Alliance, Elder Dog, SC Pride Society, SC Special Olympics, Lions Club, Toastmasters, Habitat for Humanity and many others. Mayor John Henderson opened the fair with kind words about the importance of the event, and the community engagement and collaboration between organizations that is built from it. The Interact Rotary Youth Group from Chatelech Secondary School prepared a barbecue lunch and raised over $800 to donate to Arrowhead Clubhouse.
