Images of Iceland’s volcanic terrain will be shared at the Oct. 4 meeting of the Natural History Society.

Come hear Phil Cunnington at the first meeting of the season of the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society, at the Sechelt Arts Centre, 7:30 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 4. Cunnington will give an illustrated presentation about a recent visit to Iceland, entitled, “Iceland: Where Continents Meet.”

Those who have travelled to Iceland will know that the terrain and vistas there are very different from those here on the B.C. West Coast. Iceland is a volcanic island, so Cunnington will also share some insights into how the volcanic activity there is evident to visitors and residents, along with a few other observations from along the way. During this presentation, he will share some of his images from several excursions to different locations in Iceland.

Cunnington has a strong interest in photography, and he spends a lot of his time looking through the camera lens. Since retirement approximately 10 years ago, he and his wife Holly, who live in Halfmoon Bay, have had many opportunities to travel to several destinations around the world. This has given him even more time to pursue his very active hobby of photography.

Cunnington is a retired civil engineer. As the current chairman of the Sunshine Camera Club, he is very active in many aspects of photography.

The Sechelt Arts Centre is located at Medusa and Trail. Coffee and cookies will be served. Visitors welcomed.
