The Sechelt and Gibsons Rotary Clubs are teaming up for a charity hole-in-one golf event at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club in Roberts Creek.
The event is set for Saturday, June 20. Each of the 18 holes will be played as a par three with the opportunity on each hole to win cars, trips, cash and many other fantastic prizes by scoring a hole-in-one.
Prizes will be awarded for the best overall scores by individuals and teams of four and closest to the pin contests. The entry fee of $150 includes golf, dinner and a $75 donation tax credit.
At the Rotary Inter-national Assembly in January, Microsoft founder Bill Gates Jr. spoke to the incoming Rotary officers on the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation's involvement in Polio Plus, an on-going Rotary program to eliminate polio around the world. The room erupted in cheers at the announcement that the foundation would commit an additional $200 million of funding over and above its initial $100 million contribution. Rotary agreed to raise an additional $100 million match by June 30, 2012.
The hole-in-one event is a way to help the local clubs achieve their fundraising goals.
