RCMP have confirmed human remains were found July 7, approximately 2.9 kilometres from where Jordan Naterer’s belongings were discovered.
“The family of Mr. Naterer has been notified. Crews are continuing their search of the immediate area into the afternoon, and likely into tomorrow,” Cst. James Grandy said in a press release.
The BC Coroners Service is engaged and will be conducting their own separate investigation.

A few days after items tied to a 25-year-old Vancouver hiker, missing since October, were found in Manning Park, his mother has posted a short obituary to her Facebook page.
“Jordan’s final path was eventually determined,” the post, shared Wednesday morning, reads.
Josie Naterer describes Jordan’s hiking journey, explaining how he lost the hiking trail on Frosty Mountain in EC Manning Park in October 2020.
“Jordan Naterer fought a courageous battle to escape out of treacherous terrain. His remarkable distance travelled through drainages under the worst imaginable blizzard conditions was a testament to his super-human effort to survive," Naterer wrote.
Josie thanks the large team of volunteers who spent the past months scouring for signs of her son, leading them to Jordan's final path.
“Jordan Naterer was a graduate of Memorial University's engineering program. He was an NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship holder and finished his Masters program in Electrical Engineering at UBC. Jordan was a dear son, brother, grandson, proud Newfoundlander, and called Vancouver his new home. He was a brilliant young talented man with an enormous heart and loved life and his family.”
RCMP have not made an official statement on the matter. Josie said that further information will follow as the formal investigation proceeds.
