Sunshine Coast weather: Warm temperatures mean more bear encounters

Higher temperatures means bears are on the hunt for food, which makes it more important than ever to be 'bear aware.'

Warm weather means bears are wandering into Coast neighbourhoods in search of food.

According to Weatherhood, the temperate today, July 19, should reach 23C, be 28C by tomorrow and reach lows of 19C next week, so our suggestion to you is check the weather often for changes if you have outdoor plans.

The forecast even predicts a 35 per cent chance of rain by next Thursday, so fingers crossed the water situation here on the Coast gets at least a slight reprieve.

Environment Canada, on the other hand, is showing 29C for tomorrow and a mix of sun and cloud for next week, so once again, we suggest you plan accordingly.

This warm weather means bears are on the prowl searching for food, so please keep your doors closed and take note of some of these tips from the Sunshine Coast Bear Alliance in keeping your home and property bear proof. Remember, a fed bear is a dead bear and no one wants that.
