Precipitation is on its way.

It's a term usually associated with people who abstain from drinking alcohol for the first month of the year, but in 2025, it has been a trend in the lower Sunshine Coast's weather.  According to Environment Canada's historic weather data recordings for it's automated station at Sechelt airport, that location started "dry January" a little late, with Jan. 10 seeing 10.4 millimetres of precipitation falling, since that date there has only been .9 of a millimetre recorded.

That authority predicts that will end today, Jan 29, with its forecast calling for light drizzle throughout the day and overnight rain or wet flurries.

Weatherhood is calling for wetter conditions to stay with us for the next five days. With over night lows slated to stay below zero and to drop to -9 one Monday, it is calling for snow.

Daytime high temperature readings are also predicted to decline, with 5 degrees predicted for today, and a steady decline to minus 1 degree by Monday.
