Sunshine Coast sticks to the low 20s as BC Day long weekend starts

It's the BC Day long weekend! Here's what you need to know.

Get the parasols and sunscreen out – sunny skies and pleasantly warm weather is predicted for the Sunshine Coast this weekend. 

Hyper-local weather service Weatherhood is calling for partially sunny skies Saturday with a high of 24C and low of 19C in Sechelt and Gibsons. Sunday, sunny weather with a high of 23C and low of 18C is predicted. Monday – as travellers find their way home – a high of 22C and 38 per cent chance of rain is forecasted. 

Ferry service

As of noon Friday, ferries were leaving Langdale within 10 minutes of the scheduled departure time, according to BC Ferries' current conditions page for Route 3

BC Ferries is expecting heavy foot passenger traffic on the 9:50 a.m. sailing on Saturday, Aug. 5 leaving Horseshoe Bay, as well as the 12:10 p.m. sailing Sunday, Aug. 6 leaving Horseshoe Bay because of large group reservations. 

Watering restrictions

For those visiting or gardening on the Coast this weekend, be sure to adhere to local water restrictions.

Eastbourne Water System on Keats Island is at Stage 4 restrictions, meaning no watering, no vehicle washing, no filling swimming pools, ponds and fountains. (See full restrictions on the SCRD website.) 

The South Pender Harbour Water System is at Stage 3 restrictions

The Chapman Water System, which includes Sechelt, Roberts Creek, ts'uḵw'um, Elphinstone, Halfmoon Bay and other sections of the Coast, is at Stage 2 restrictions. (See all the water systems' coverage on the SCRD website.
