The Samhain Parade and Carnival in downtown Sechelt marked the climax of the Sechelt Arts Festival on Oct. 31. The event blended the Celtic harvest festival of Samhain with Mexican Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) traditions. Dozens of costumed ghouls marched from the Seaside Centre to Hackett Park, led by members of the Caravan Paradiso band in cadaverous face paint and formal attire. Virtuoso conga drummer and vocalist Susana Williams joined the ensemble at the park where over 200 attendees braved low temperatures to fill the amphitheatre with Halloween spirit.
