Regarding the recent plethora of letters from people crying for a passenger-only ferry to Horseshoe Bay, many readers may not be aware that there is a locally owned 12-passenger water taxi that travels to various points on demand, to and from Gibsons. Not only is the Sunshine Coast Water Taxi certified by Transport Canada, it can be chartered 24/7, unless weather conditions make travelling unsafe.

I learned recently that it has been running successfully (and without fanfare hype) for a few years now.

The owners told me that a group of foot passenger commuters are using it regularly on week days to return from Vancouver because the new ferry schedule does not suit their needs. Since rates are charged per boatload of passengers, each person in a group of 12 would pay a very reasonable amount.
