At the Oct. 29 public meeting of the Sunshine Coast Community Forest, a member of the public informed us that four old growth trees in the Wilson Creek area had been felled by the community forest about 10 days previous to our meeting.

We have now investigated and determined that these trees were near a forest service road and were considered dangerous to safety. (For example, one of the trees was rotten right down to the stump and another had a large dead top.) As a result, they were removed by a faller under the authority of the Ministry of Forests and Range.

We thank the member of the public for bringing this to our attention.
