Time to cut the SCRD string

I was flabbergasted when I read our banana republic pre-emptively voted for the transfer station against the clear majority of Area A residents. This was after Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) directors promised to give us time to sort out the survey or referendum options. Area A residents never had a voice in the matter, the fix was in from the start. And to make matters worse, it appears our Area A director spent all his energy trying to figure out where the wind was blowing, and not make a decision. When I read his comment about how anyone could care about the dump, I knew we were doomed.

One thing I can do as an Area A resident is guarantee what will happen next. The Sechelt dump is in need of some major work and it only makes sense to ensure Area A is onboard. The highly flouted gas recovery project will be an unmitigated money pit, once they bring it up to standards. Speaking of environmentally friendly, I bet the dump will, in the very near future, be a source of concern for water drinkers in the Sechelt area due to the fact it lies uphill of their drinking supply.

This whole charade of getting Area A's blessing was a sham. This is nothing more than a tax grab, pure and simple. We have so-called representation, but like a paper kite in the Malaspina Strait, it flew wherever the winds went. I think it is hung up in offices of the SCRD. The string is still attached for easy pulling. Area A ought to cut that string; it will only continue to strangle us down the road.
