I would like to thank everyone who was involved in my re-election campaign, and all those who became engaged in the political process. Powell River - Sunshine Coast had almost 60 per cent voter turnout. This was significantly above the provincial average, but low nonetheless. I hope that everyone becomes more engaged by the next election.
Congratulations and thank you to all of my opponents for having taken part in this important process. You will have no doubt recognized the richness and the friendly nature of our communities, as well asthe remarkable beauty of our region.
My thanks go to the team of volunteers who helped run a thoughtful and well-organized campaign on both the Upper and Lower Sunshine Coast. We did our best to support local businesses for our goods and services -from printing, computer and office equipment to catering and food services. Most of our signs were re-cycled from four years ago, and we were careful not to print unnecessary material, relying on local media advertisers instead.
The legislation we debate in Victoria has a direct impact on each one of us. I will continue to represent the best interest of the public of Powell River - Sunshine Coast to the best of my abilities.
