The following letter was sent to Sechelt council and copied to Coast Reporter.
Thank you Mayor Darren Inkster and council for making the right decision banning discharging or firing any rifle, shotgun, handgun, spring gun, longbows or crossbow within District boundaries, thus rejecting the bow hunting of elk within District boundaries and easing resident fears of armed camouflaged hunters in our communities.
You made sure the safety of our community comes first, at the same time avoiding a lot of unnecessary suffering and cruelty to our precious wildlife. You listened to the people regarding an off-leash area for dogs and heeded the voice of the public regarding Davis Bay Highway expansion. For once we have a government that is responsive to public wants and needs.
