Rec centre concerns

On a recent trip to the Gibsons and Area Commu-nity Centre, I couldn't help notice how much of our tax money is being poured into a facility we are barely even using.

On a recent trip to the Gibsons and Area Commu-nity Centre, I couldn't help notice how much of our tax money is being poured into a facility we are barely even using. Did you know this rec centre has eight urinals and more than 12 hand washing sinks? Not to mention the several people who are hired to provide unnecessarily frequent maintenance such as cleaning windows, power washing the entrance area and vacuuming the fitness equipment.

I know that all this looks great, and it's nice to enter such a luxurious building, but is this worth the thousands of dollars? I go there quite a bit to work out, and lots of times the building is completely deserted. I don't think people should have to pay for something they have never even seen themselves. It is definitely a state of the art building. Whoever is in charge should step up and make some serious improvements.
