Editor:
I am becoming increasingly concerned about the continuing reports of illegal calls that took place in dozens of key swing ridings across the country in the last federal election.
Elections Canada admits that more than 31,000 complaints have been made. This is extremely serious and calls into question the integrity of our democratic system and therefore should inspire direct action by all political parties to find out what happened, who paid for this, and where did these data bases come from? Canadians deserve these answers, we need a public inquiry to find out who was responsible and also to set out much needed ethical guidelines on the use of this new technology.
The Conservative government is unfortunately looking very guilty by not calling a full public inquiry. Every vote counts! We need to let our elected representatives know that our democratic rights must be protected.
