I want to thank the two kind and unflappable sisters who came to the aid of myself and four family members visiting from the U.K.
On Friday afternoon (July 27) we took out some kayaks and ran into a sudden squall that blew up while we were fighting a chop on an incoming tide near Georgia Beach and the Bluff in Gibsons. Two kayaks filled with water as we landed, the chop did not settle, and we had two kayaks overturn when we tried to relaunch.
At this point, two women who were on the beach came to our aid, transported myself, one of the youngsters and his mother, and one kayak, with their car. They went to much effort to do this, while cheering up the soaking wet members of our party. They declined to be thanked by name, saying: "To pass on a kindness is the best principle."
I shall be passing on their kindness for a long time.
