Regarding the letter from the Raging Grannies protesting the boat blow-up (Coast Reporter, Aug. 13), I don't feel one way or another about the boat blow-up - never have. But, Grannies, though I love you, don't you think you are a little off-focus with this complaint?
I know the argument: if we just get rid of violence, against people or property, all the problems of the world will be solved. However, injustice breeds violence, as the slogan "No justice/No peace," points out. There is plenty of injustice to write letters about. Are you afraid that would be too political? Life is political.
By the way, young boys have always liked to play with fire, with sometimes-tragic results. I do not believe the boat blow-up inspired the Coles Marine delinquents, as you suggest, or that they necessarily thought of themselves as being violent.
