An open letter to District of Sechelt mayor and council:
Sechelt property taxpayers pay you and District staff to do a quality job for us. We also pay you our hard-earned tax dollars to keep our roads safe.
We taxpayers living in the 6400 block of Jasper Road are enduring dangerous driving conditions. We have repeatedly asked the engineering department to repair our road, but there is no response. When will you attend to this urgent matter?
ICBC told me if there is an accident caused by poor road maintenance, they will send you a letter of interest. A person who is hurt, because of the District's failure to keep a road in safe driving condition, can sue you for damages - paid for with taxpayers' money.
Sidewalks are needed. The water-filled potholes near Canada Post boxes by the Mason Road trailer courts need filling. Residents should phone the mayor and councillors to demand that poorly maintained roads are repaired.
West Sechelt property tax payers have been paying taxes for years to be connected to sewers. How much longer must we wait?
You are accountable to Sechelt voters in November 2011. Why shouldn't property tax payers vote for new candidates?
