Majority against elk hunt

I think it is important to remind people once more that crossbow hunting of elk has been going on each winter since 2006. This is happening in DL 1647 right beside the golf course. This winter, hunters once more set up a blind, video camera and feed bait. Though some of this is Crown land it is within the District of Sechelt. If the District can restrict firearm hunting within the District, surely they can create a bylaw also restricting bow hunting. There is lots of wilderness outside the District boundaries.

In a recent letter on this topic, Bill Ellis mentions that he has only seen a few comments against the hunt. They may be few, but they are the majority. While he is correct that people have the right to explore their various interests, there is a big difference between stamp collecting, rebuilding a '57 Chev and running around in the woods with bows and arrows killing animals. I think most people have negative feelings towards such actions.
