Reflection in well water

Editor:

I’d like to thank the District of Sechelt Councillors and SCRD elected officials who heeded the warnings of a scientific report and wisely voted down Mayor Henderson’s “quick-and-dirty” proposal of extracting potentially contaminated water from a Dusty Road well, located next to a landfill.

I am grateful that our elected officials want to protect us by providing a cleanly sourced water supply for the long-term. Now the SCRD and District of Sechelt must work with the shíshálh Nation to urgently enlist and press the provincial government for the permissions and funding needed to provide both long-term safe water supply AND adequate storage.

Sincerely,

Teri McArter, Sechelt
