Is BC Ferries doing enough to protect me and my family from fire onboard? The increased number of electric vehicles allowed on board substantially increases the risk of runaway battery fires, especially in a marine environment where salt water dousing adds to the fire control problem.
I have seen no special measures introduced. Will BCF charge more for EVs to pay for separate fire suppression equipment? Will BCF isolate all EVs on a separate deck and lane? Have BCF adequately trained their union staff to deal with EV fire events? Why has BCF not publicly issued statements to reassure the public about EV marine safety measures such as limiting the number of EVs on any sailing?
Too many questions not enough answers!
