Editor:
On behalf of the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society, I would like to send heartfelt thanks to all the generous members of this community who contributed to this year’s Lights of Life fundraising campaign. The recent postal strike threatened to seriously affect our ability to raise the necessary funds for the critical support we provide to community members who are facing life-threatening illness, grieving the loss of family and friends, or caring for someone who is seriously ill. But even though the strike prevented us from sending out our annual letter that tells the stories of the impact of the work of our volunteer-led services, the community came through and we were able to meet our goal for this important campaign. This means that Coast Hospice will continue to be able to provide the programs and services–such as grief groups, one-to-one companioning, caregiver respite, the palliative day program, and hospice vigil–that Coast residents have come to rely on.
Thank you so much to all of you who donated. We are deeply appreciative of your support.
