Letters: Stonehurst public hearing is seeking public input

'Last week you published two letters by people clearly opposed to the development, who presumably would’ve celebrated its defeat, criticizing us (in one case criticizing me personally) for not seeking public input, when in fact that is exactly what we voted to do!'

The Stonehurst development application has been in process for over two years. The next step inherited by the current Gibsons council was to either defeat the application at second reading or go to a public hearing after making the developer hold a second public information meeting. We chose to go ahead with public information and hearing from the public. The public hearing will be April 25, and we’re already receiving letters for our consideration.

Last week you published two letters by people clearly opposed to the development, who presumably would’ve celebrated its defeat, criticizing us (in one case criticizing me personally) for not seeking public input, when in fact that is exactly what we voted to do! Yet more evidence in the Coast Reporter letter section that with some people, anyway, you can’t win for trying.
