Editor:
The summary of a Cuff Report initiated “Guidelines for Communication” between council, the mayor and senior staff. The resulting process implemented is the very antithesis of the open communication required between elected officials and the deployment by hired staff. There have been several inquiries as to who initiated the request for a Cuff Report; was procurement policy followed; what has been the total cost? Above all does it facilitate positive action for the benefit of the community? Still awaiting a response.
Sechelt has two councillors on the SCRD board. Where have their voices been to question the inaction of the SCRD to the closure of Highway 101 for five hours following a severe wind storm? An editorial opinion (vol. 24) in the Coast Reporter clearly voices concern for responsibility and organization being alarmingly absent. Sechelt has been alerted to the necessity for emergency procedures in the wake of an environmental disaster. SCRD and Sechelt’s representation on the board have failed miserably. This was a test!
A credible concern?
