Letters: RCCA stands with Jewish community

The Roberts Creek Community Association was proud to host the 52nd Annual Christmas Craft Fair at the Roberts Creek Community Hall last weekend (Nov. 26 to 28). What marred a wonderful and inclusive community event, however, was the presence of a group of antivaccination protestors outside the entrance to the Hall, many of whom were wearing a yellow Star of David.

The RCCA supports and celebrates the right to peaceful protest. However, the use of this historical symbol in this context has been decried by the broader Jewish community and is absolutely offensive. Drawing a parallel between individuals who have the right to refuse vaccination and the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany minimizes the atrocities that took place during the Holocaust and trivializes the lived experience of victims and survivors.

The RCCA stands strongly by our local Jewish community. We are proud to uphold Roberts Creek as a community that is welcoming, inclusive, and celebrates diversity.

Sincerely,
Sarah Bradley, president
