Letters: Prioritize waterfront light replacement

If the Sechelt Downtown Business Association wants to revitalise the walk along the Trail Bay waterfront, I can suggest a concrete first step: replace the nine out of 10 lights that are burnt out along the path between the Inlet and the Wharf entrance.

Most of these lights have been burnt out since last year.  I have previously emailed the district asking for them to be replaced.  The pavement is, at places, uneven, and the path is quite dark on a dark night. I know, I walk it every night. This presents a real hazard to the elderly and disabled in the community (and a potential legal liability to the district who have a duty of care.)

I don’t understand why this has been allowed to happen, and for so long, but before we talk about the “underused waterfront,” let’s just make the waterfront accessible for the community. I think we should be able to afford nine light bulbs.
