Regarding the letter from Peter Robson/PHARA (“Renaming without consultation,” Aug. 25).
I am always astounded at residents claiming “lack of consultation” regarding restoring the original names to communities on the Coast.
When these lands were stolen by settlers from Europe, do you think these White people consulted with those whose lands they were stealing? Do you think they asked the shíshálh people?
I don’t see reconciliation as Indigenous people having to ask and beg for their language back!
Really. Please.
