Letters: Off-leash dog areas are needed in Gibsons

'It is time for Gibsons to acknowledge the relationship many pet owners have with access to “off leash” areas, especially smaller breeds. I’ve raised larger dogs, German shepherds in competition, and understand the need to separate smaller and larger breeds.'

It is time for Gibsons to acknowledge the relationship many pet owners have with access to “off leash” areas, especially smaller breeds. I’ve raised larger dogs, German shepherds in competition, and understand the need to separate smaller and larger breeds. As a senior with disabilities, I have taken my Cairn Terrier to Brothers Park Sports Field over many years, always being responsible for cleaning up and supervising.

Today I hear the field may, or will be, restricted to sports alone, which usually takes up weekends and summer evenings...less than 20 per cent of available access time for others. C’mon mayor and council, figure out who votes for you and why.
