In PJ Reece’s letter of Sept. 13, “What’s happening to us,” he opines that Coasters are lacking in information to make informed decisions about health-related issues, and especially pertaining to vaccinations. I’m happy to chime in and encourage Coasters, including Mr. Reece, to tune into my interview with long-time coastal physician Dr. Ron Mundy about such issues, in a forthcoming Eastlink Community Cable (Channel 10) broadcast.

I chatted with Dr. Mundy, who has indulged a healthcare interest in virology for 40 years, on Sept. 12. In our interview he shared a doctor’s satchel of up-to-date advice and guidance on vaccinations and issues related to COVID-19, influenza, RSV and Shingles.

I was struck, in our discussion, of the scope and breadth of Dr. Mundy’s knowledge, gleaned through personal experiences, conversations with peers, and deep study of the issues. This is the basis for establishing credibilty and reliability of health-care information. Unfortunately, this information is sorely lacking in many claims sown by self-proclaimed experts who continue to promote misinformation and distrust about pronouncements from authentic health-care professionals.

Our interview will be broadcast several times during the last week of September. You’re invited to tune in. And FYI, Dr. Mundy recommends consulting the BC Centre for Disease Control for up-to-date, B.C.-oriented health-care information: bccdc.ca
