With the recent high tides, more and more floating logs and debris are washing up on our shores. It seems to be an environmental issue that appears to be going unchallenged but certainly not unnoticed. Logs harvested and lost float aimlessly with every tide. They land on many beaches and are left to slowly decay until the next king tide. Beaches are where many sea creatures and sea birds either live or feed and wouldn’t deposits of logs change the beach habitat?
Isn’t it time to hold forest harvesting organizations and transport companies accountable to both clean up the debris as well as prevent future losses?
