Sunshine Coast Labour Council is returning to host the annual International Women’s Day Potluck Lunch celebration in Roberts Creek Community Hall on March 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

SCLC has hosted IWD events over the decades to celebrate women’s achievements and support new generations of female leaders in our community.

There is no charge. We will be showcasing activist speakers and local musical talents as well as providing a venue for the community organizations to engage the public on their initiatives and arts.

This year’s keynote speaker is Karen Ranalletta, CUPE BC president who will be sharing her journey as a provincial labour union leader and the power of solidarity accomplished by Canadian Union of Public Employees.

During the event, we are accepting donations for the local food bank as well as hosting 50/50 to raise fund for the Yew Transition House to help with their programs.

We hope you are joining us for this special International Women’s Day celebration with multicultural dishes among generations of brothers, sisters and friends.

Please don’t miss the IWD cake cut around noon, shortly after the potluck lunch. Everyone is welcome.

Miyuki Shinkai, President
