Letters: Defacing election signs illegal and disrespectful

Editor:

Election time is upon us again and with it comes the candidate signs on highway easements and front lawns.  I have been a political volunteer for three decades here on the Coast and have put up my fair share of signs for the candidates that I support.

I am always dismayed at the behaviour of those who deface, destroy or steal elections signs from candidates that they do not support. I was hoping that this election would be different, but alas, I have already witnessed overwhelming evidence that signs are being knocked over, stolen or defaced.

We pride ourselves in being a community of openness and tolerance for other points of view – this disrespectful and by the way, illegal behaviour paints a sad picture of our community.
